Preparing for a Safari
There are few things quite as exciting as going on safari in Africa. The magnificence of African animals is legendary, and there is nowhere else in the world that you will find such an awe-inspiring selection of wildlife. Nothing can compete with the magic of seeing a herd of wild African elephants silhouetted against the sunrise, or a pride of lions resting in the shade. For the best safari experience, plenty of preparation is needed to ensure availability at the best safari lodges, and to find out about the various areas that you will be visiting. This way, you can fully enjoy the wonder of the animals without having to stress during your stay.
Plan What You Want to See
South Africa is rich in wildlife. We’re one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five – elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo – as well as a host of other wildlife. Contrary to popular belief, wildlife across the enormous African continent is not uniform, so the kind of safari experience that you get really depends upon where you go. For the ‘Big Five’, and the quintessential ‘African plains’ safari experience, South Africa is a very good choice indeed. If, however, you’re a fan of primates and tropical birds, you’d be better off heading elsewhere in the continent, such as Uganda for gorilla-trekking or Seychelles for its beautiful Bird Island.
