National Geographic has named South Africa’s Garden Route one of the world’s best spring trips for 2017. As self-confessed experts of the Garden Route and proud South Africans ourselves, this couldn’t make us happier. The article has dubbed the Garden Route the ‘road trip that will break your Instagram’. Described as a trip that is ‘designed for detours’, the article encourages travellers to stop along the way and enjoy the routes’ many lagoons, lakes, forests, mountains, beaches and bays. Including New York’s Central Park, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, the Balkan Flexipass through Eastern Europe and the volcanic island of Aogashima in Japan, the Garden Route is one of 12 global destinations revered by National Geographic.
